Peugeot 5008 - second generation submitted in September 2016 at the Paris Motor Show, the model "outgrew" from a minivan to a seven-seater crossover.

The new 5008 is built on the EMP2 modular platform with semi-independent rear suspension. This architecture is also used in Peugeot 300 8, Peugeot 308 And Citroen C4 Picasso. With the change of generations, the five-door added 19 cm in length, 11 cm widened, and also received a wheelbase increased by 16.5 cm. The exterior design and the front part of the cabin were also drawn by the designers of the French brand in the same corporate style as the “junior” 3008th. However, compared with the "relative", the second row of seats in the Peugeot 5008 is shifted back by 6 cm and consists of three separate seats with individual settings and Isofix mounts. When folding, the seatbacks form a flat surface.

Depending on the configuration, the third row with two seats is installed as standard or optional. The boot volume of the 5008 in the five-seater configuration is 780 liters, and with the seats folded down - 1060 liters. The maximum length of the transported cargo reaches 3.2 m (the front passenger seat also folds). In the list of available equipment, an electric tailgate with touchless activation has been added. In the cabin there are additional cavities for small things with a total volume of 38 liters.

The range of power units of the new Peugeot 5008 includes PureTech petrol turbo engines with a volume of 1.2 liters (130 hp) and 1.6 liters (165 hp), which are combined with a six-speed "mechanics" and "automatic" Aisin of the same range, as well as BlueHDi turbodiesels with a volume of 1.6 liters (100 hp and 120 hp) and 2.0 liters (150 hp and 180 hp). The initial diesel engine is combined only with a five-speed manual transmission, the rest can be paired with mechanical and automatic six-speed. The most powerful power unit is installed exclusively on the older version of the model with the GT index.

Peugeot makes up for the lack of all-wheel drive on the 5008 with Grip Control, a proprietary system that helps when driving on surfaces with insufficient grip. The list of equipment includes frontal collision warning systems with pedestrian recognition, a traffic lane tracking system and traffic sign recognition.

Serial production of the Peugeot 5008 is organized at the plant of the PSA concern in Rennes, France.
